Date of assessment: 13 to 28 August 2024. The service is a care home for people with mental health support needs, some of whom have additional physical and sensory impairments. At the time of our inspection 18 people were living at the home.
We carried out this assessment following concerns we had received from a Local Authority regarding the management of people’s monies where they required such support. At our inspection we found the provider had made improvements to their systems and processes and people’s monies were now managed safely. People were protected and kept safe. Managers took action to address incidents and concerns. Staff managed risks to people. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications, and experience working at the home. Staff received the training and support they required to deliver high quality care.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. They were involved in assessments of their needs and in making decisions about their care. Staff protected people’s privacy and dignity and respected their choices. The service provided information people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the service took it seriously.
People received fair and equal care and treatment, and staff supported them to follow their cultural, religious and other needs and preferences. People were offered a wide range of activities to participate in if the wished, including activities outside the home.
Managers and staff had a shared vision focused on putting people first. Staff felt able to give feedback and were treated equally. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. They spoke positively about the provider’s concern for their wellbeing.
We assessed a small number of quality statements from the safe, effective, caring and well-led key questions and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection
