Updated 19 March 2025
This inspection was carried out between 8 April 2025 to 14 April 2025. We visited the home on both dates.
At the time of the inspection there were 12 people living at the home, but 1 person was in hospital. The service specialised in the care of people with a learning disability and autistic people.
We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
The service is larger than the current best practice recommendations but applied the principles and values of Registering the Right Support and other best practice guidance. These ensure that people who use the service can live as full a life as possible and achieve the best possible outcomes that include control, choice, and independence.
There were enough staff with the right skills and experience to make sure people received safe and effective care. Staff worked in partnership with other professionals to make sure people received appropriate care and support.
People received prescribed medicines safely from staff who had received specific training to carry out the task.
Assessments were person centred and regularly reviewed to take account of changes in needs and preferences. However, some information in assessments about people’s hobbies and interests were not incorporated into care plans.
The new registered manager was making improvements to make sure people had more access to leisure activities.
People only received care and support with their consent or in their best interests.
People were treated with kindness and compassion and staff respected people’s privacy and dignity.
The registered manager was open and approachable. They led by example to make sure care and support provided was inclusive and empowering. Staff felt supported and all said they would be able to speak up about any concerns.
There were quality monitoring processes in place which led to ongoing improvements.
