Baby Scan Studio Ashford provides pregnancy keepsake scans to self-funding women and birthing people, aged from 18 years, in Ashford and the surrounding areas.
The service provided 2D, 3D, 4D and 5D scans from 6 to 38 weeks gestation. These included early scans, reassurance scans, gender identification scans, growth scan and growth 4D scans.
In the event of an anomaly detection, women and birthing people were referred to the local NHS early pregnancy assessment unit or maternity service depending on the stage or gestation of pregnancy. All scans were completed by fully qualified sonographers.
The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide the regulated activity of diagnostic and screening procedures.
During our assessment we spoke with 3 staff members, 2 qualified sonographers and the registered manager/owner.
The overall rating for all key questions was Good and we found the service had made significant improvements in Safe and Well-Led key questions since the previous assessment.
The service made it clear on their website and in all pre-scan questionnaire and consent forms that women and birthing people should attend all NHS scan appointments and scans completed at the service were not a replacement for NHS scans. The registered manager and owner of the service had worked hard to improve the governance throughout the service. There was clear improvement in how the service supported staff training and there was a clear strive for improvement.
