Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 5 December 2024

Date of Assessment: 15 January 2025 to 27 January 2025. Woodhall Spa New Surgery is a GP practice and delivers primary medical services to 5,459 patients under a contract held with NHS England. Bardney Surgery is a branch site to the practice. We assessed 28 quality statements across all 5 key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report. Staff were appropriately skilled, qualified and experienced to carry out their roles. Medicines were well managed at the practice and the dispensary worked effectively to ensure safe processes were in place. Staff reviewed assessments; taking account of people’s needs and people were involved in decisions about their care. Staff had a good understanding of their community and provided a personalised service dependent on needs. People were treated with kindness and compassion. People had choice in their care and treatment. The service supported staff wellbeing. The service was easy to access and people received fair care and treatment. We found a breach of Regulation 17- Good Governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment. There were not clear systems and processes to ensure actions were implemented from audit and risk assessment tools. Policies and procedures were not always consistent with their approach.

People's experience of the service

Updated 5 December 2024

The service made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices. People overall reported positive feedback about the quality of their care and treatment. People had access to a range of clinicians across both sites. The Care Quality Commission did not receive any patient feedback via the link provided by the practice leaders for their patients to give feedback on care. A Patient Participation Group had been reinstated in 2024 who represented the views of the people using the service. It was in its infancy so opportunity for improvements was limited.
