During an assessment under our new approach
Date of Assessment: 15 January to 7 February 2025. Corbrook Park is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 80 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 61 people using the service.
We undertook this assessment following concerns around poor care, cleanliness and staffing levels.
We identified 3 breaches of the regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, good governance and staffing.
Staff were not deployed effectively to provide safe and effective care. Staff were not always responsive to people’s immediate needs. Medicines were not always managed safely. The environment and infection control practices were not always safe. The provider’s governance systems were not always effective in monitoring and improving the quality of service.
Safeguarding concerns were identified and reported. The provider made sure there was continuity of care, including when people moved between different services. When the service had identified changes to people’s health and care needs, they worked with external health professionals and sought medical advice appropriately. Staff were recruited safely and trained appropriately.
On our first visit to the service, interactions with people were mostly task orientated. During the second on site visit we observed frequent positive interactions with people.
A new manager had been in post at Corbrook Park for several months and had submitted an application to register with CQC and, during the inspection, the application was successful.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
